Hankook Coffee: A Visual Journey into the World of Coffee

Exploring the Process and Flavors of Hankook Coffee through Stunning Posters and Postcards

Nowadays, coffee is one of the highest consumed beverages that is indispensable to this world. I had two questions in my mind: How much do people know about coffee beans? How much do they know about the coffee they drink? Most people probably do not know much. I wanted to get the answers to these questions through this project.

Hankook Coffee, a renowned coffee company in the Korean market since 1992, has taken a unique approach to showcase the world of coffee through their captivating posters and postcards. Designed by the talented team at DAandCOMPANY, led by Creative Director Daeki Shim and HyoJun Shim, this project aims to educate and engage consumers about the process of coffee production and the diverse flavors offered by Hankook Coffee.

The designers have visualized coffee in the form of coffee drops, representing the top seven percent of A-grade coffee beans. Through these stunning visuals, the posters and postcards depict how Hankook Coffee carefully selects, imports, and processes the highest quality coffee beans. The designs also highlight the company's commitment to directly visiting coffee plantations to ensure the best coffee is provided to Korean consumers.

Each poster and postcard tells a story, showcasing the journey of coffee beans from cultivation and production to transportation, roasting, and distribution. The visuals provide a comprehensive and visually appealing representation of the entire process, allowing consumers to easily understand and appreciate the effort that goes into each cup of Hankook Coffee.

Utilizing Adobe Illustrator CS6 and Photoshop CS6, the designers meticulously worked on the illustrated and photo images to achieve the desired colors for printing. The result is a collection of visually striking posters and postcards that not only educate but also captivate the audience.

The posters measure W 420 mm x H 594 mm, while the postcards are W 90 mm x H 130 mm, making them perfect for display or sending a thoughtful message to fellow coffee lovers.

This project made its debut at the Coffee Show 2015, hosted by Seoul Cafe Show, where it garnered significant interest from consumers. Even in 2016, the project continues to be used as a promotional material for sales presentations, highlighting the enduring impact of these designs.

Extensive research was conducted to ensure the accuracy and authenticity of the information presented in the designs. The designers delved into every aspect of coffee production, from cultivation to distribution, to provide consumers with a comprehensive understanding of the process.

The project presented several challenges, particularly in visually representing the complex process of coffee production in a way that would be easily understandable to consumers with limited knowledge of coffee. The designers overcame these challenges by presenting the information persuasively and visually, without any omission or distortion.

It is worth noting that this exceptional design project has been recognized and awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Graphics, Illustration, and Visual Communication Design category in 2016. This prestigious award acknowledges designs that demonstrate outstanding creativity, technical skill, and contribute to improving the quality of life.

Experience the world of coffee like never before with Hankook Coffee's captivating posters and postcards. Let these designs take you on a visual journey through the intricate process of coffee production and discover the diverse flavors that Hankook Coffee has to offer.
